Governance from the Margins

Organizer: Ugnayang Pang-Aghamtao (UGAT)

The panel explores how policies meant to encourage self-regulation such as the mandate for indigenous governance, grassroots participation is actually implemented and experienced in rural communities in parts of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The papers discuss the varying interpretations and extents of ‘participation’ — the gains and successes alongside consequences, payoffs and challenges of initiatives toward self-regulation encountered in the margins.
